New program "Traumrose" -
music and recitation
This program with the lyrical title „Dream rose“ (see
Zvi Ajsnman’s short story with the same title) combines
new Yiddish songs from oral tradition with German translations
of contemporary Yiddish literature from Eastern Europe and the
US. It is a sensitive presentation full of spirit, stage talent
and musical expression.
Contemporary Yiddish literature has, in addition to retrospect
and memories, a wide variety of topics, such as little events of
every-day life in the new home countries, a mixture of poetic and
fabulous elements or images of travelling impressions.
This program is a musical, stirring exploration through the numerous
countries and languages of eastern Europe.
Myrtle, an evergreen shrub, symbolically fills traditional and
new Yiddish songs from its roots in klezmer music to the cradle
of the Yiddish culture of music. Vivacious and tender both, Katharina
Müther and Roswitha Dasch create a sparkling evening and sing
in Yiddish, Roma (Gypsy), Rumanian, Bulgarian, Bosnian, Slovakian,
Russian, and white Russian.

„Schpil mir, zigajner! – Play
for me, gypsy!”
This concert will stir you delightfully and
bring relentless smiles to your face!
From the “Yiddish Blues” to a “Sirba,”
from traditional Yiddish songs to “Yiddish
Theater”, from melancholy romances
to the whirling melodies of the Roma,
or Gypsy people,
this is a diverse program
that really has that special something.
With point-blank, impetuous swing, grace, and artistic talent, the
two full-blooded musicians do not just warm their audience, but
bring it instead to its boiling point.
