Katharina Müther
Katharina
Müther was born in Düsseldorf, Germany and graduated
from the University of Freiburg in 1981, having studied Russian and
music. She has explored and studied Yiddish songs since 1975 and studied
the Yiddish language at the Volkshochschule (VHS) in Freiburg. She
has been performing both in and out of Germany since the early 80s,
solo as well as with the ensembles Duo
Avierto (with Martin Schmidt on mandolin, bouzouki and bass),
and Döner four one (with
Murat Coskun on percussion, Annette Mayé on clarinet, and Winnie
Holzenkamp and Andres Buchholz on bass). Katharina has also worked
with the storyteller Gidon Horowitz
since 1981. The birth of her most recent group happened in 1999 when
she joined Roswitha Dasch from
Wuppertal, Germany to form Duo Vajlu.
